Hillspeed Congratulates Alumnus Seb Morris On Huge Bentley Deal

Successful motor racing squad Hillspeed wishes to extend its congratulations to former driver Seb Morris, following last week’s announcement the Welsh star has been signed as a ‘works’ Bentley driver for the 2020 international GT season.

Markham Vale-based Hillspeed forged a hugely successful partnership with Morris a decade ago when the then 14-year-old from Marford near Wrexham made his car racing debut with the team in the Ginetta Junior Championship – also the squad’s maiden year in the category.

Going on to end his first season in 2010 just outside the top 10 in the standings, Morris remained with the team for that year’s Winter Series and duly secured his first championship victory – making history too as the youngest ever winner of the title.

Heading into the 2011 season in Ginetta Junior as a real favourite for main-season glory, Morris delivered in spades and wrapped-up the championship during the penultimate meeting of the season at Brands Hatch Grand Prix Circuit. Taking 16 podiums from the 20 races contested, the rising Welsh star scorched to victory in no fewer than 11 of the campaign’s contests.

Following a year away racing in Formula Renault single-seaters with another team, Morris returned to the Hillspeed fold in 2013 for a move into the brand new BRDC Formula 4 Championship. Ending the year as Vice-Champion, Morris claimed one win and nine other podiums.

Now after several excellent seasons in the ranks of GT endurance racing with Bentley customer teams, including a famous British GT Championship victory in 2017, Morris enters the 2020 motorsport year as a fully-fledged Pro driver with Bentley in the Intercontinental GT Challenge.

“All of us at Hillspeed, in particular those of us who worked closely with Seb in Ginetta Junior and BRDC F4, are absolutely elated he has this amazing opportunity with Bentley and I know he will grab it with both hands”, said Hillspeed team principal Richard Ollerenshaw.

“We knew Seb had an immense amount of potential when he first stepped-up into cars with us for the 2010 season in Juniors. It was a case of nurturing that, building on it and he quickly became a very impressive driver – two titles in two years was outstanding.”

Ollerenshaw added: “We’ve always prided ourselves on our driver development at Hillspeed and we’re so proud Seb has realised his potential and become one of the very best young drivers Wales, and Britain as a whole, has ever produced. He absolutely deserves this amazing chance with Bentley, it’s just reward for all of the years of hard work he and his family have put in. Well done Seb!”
