Top F3 Squad Hillspeed Finalises Relocation To Impressive New Markham Vale HQ

Leading BRDC British Formula 3 Championship team Hillspeed has today finalised its move to impressive new headquarters at the Markham Vale development adjacent to the M1 motorway in Derbyshire, elevating the squad’s first-class operations yet further into its 50th anniversary season.

Richard Ollerenshaw’s team, a multiple race winner in British F3 and championship winning entry in categories such as Ginetta Junior and Formula Renault, has this week completed its relocation from Hathersage to the new base at Waterloo Court, Junction 29a of the M1.

Coming at a true landmark time for Hillspeed, the team celebrating its Golden Jubilee year in 2020, the fantastic new facilities on offer at the Markham Vale site mean the race squad is now perfectly placed to push forward with plans to expand into other aspects of the motorsport industry.

Offering prime industrial, commercial and retail development sites across an area of some 200 acres, Markham Vale’s position makes it the ideal location for Hillspeed in the heart of the Midlands with the new HQ easily serviced by a variety of transport options.

Not only is the site accessed directly from the dedicated new Junction 29a on the M1, it is just a 30-minute journey by road from East Midlands Airport – which, of course, is next to Donington Park –only 45 minutes from Robin Hood Airport near Doncaster, and Birmingham and Manchester Airports are just 90 minutes away from Markham Vale.

“We are absolutely delighted to have completed our move into Waterloo Court at Markham Vale”, said Richard Ollerenshaw, “We first began the move in December and we’re fully up and running for the very special 50th anniversary year for Hillspeed where we’ll, once again, be racing in Formula 3.

“We have, for a long time, wanted to relocate the race team to the site as it is a perfect location with its fantastic infrastructure. Our plan now is twofold – to provide our race team with the highest quality base and, secondly, to expand our business into other areas of the motorsport industry.”

He added: “Being in such close proximity to the M1 and the major regional airports, such as East Midlands, Robin Hood, Leeds, Manchester and Birmingham, not only means our UK clients can easily visit but, importantly, our international clients too.

“This is fantastic for the Hillspeed team and the wider business and we will continue to develop the facility over the next six months, providing further specialist accommodation for the new ventures we plan to undertake during the year.”

Markham Vale has been created through a partnership between Henry Boot Developments and Derbyshire County Council and is the county’s flagship regeneration scheme. Centred around the former Markham Colliery site, the location has been transformed into a business and industrial hub and has brought vital, and substantial, investment and employment opportunities to the area.

Head of Markham Vale, Peter Storey, said: “As Head of Markham Vale, I’d like to welcome Hillspeed to our growing business park. Our objective at Markham Vale is to help attract high quality companies and to help them grow their business here.

“Attracting Hillspeed with its high quality brand to Markham Vale is fantastic news – the business is a great addition to our ever increasing number of companies that have chosen Markham Vale as the place to do business.”
