Multiple GB3 Race Winners Hillspeed Laud ‘Outstanding’ 2024 Calendar

Successful GB3 Championship partnered by the BRDC team Hillspeed has acclaimed the newly announced 2024 calendar for the UK’s premier single-seater category, with team principal Richard Ollerenshaw saying the 24-race schedule means the stock of GB3 has increased yet further.

Taking in no fewer than three overseas events next year, including a first ever visit for GB3 to the famous Hungaroring near Budapest, the 2024 season truly will be the most high-profile yet with a total of five GB3 race meetings taking place at current Formula One level circuits.

Zandvoort in The Netherlands, which delivered a triumphant event with GB3 this year, remains on the new schedule with a trip to the legendary Spa-Francorchamps and two visits to Silverstone GP Circuit meaning over half of the championship will be contested at contemporary F1 tracks.

The 2024 season will begin with the traditional championship-opener at Oulton Park International Circuit in Cheshire over Easter weekend, from 30th March to 1st April, before the first of the visits to Northamptonshire at Silverstone on 27th/28th April.

Spa will host the third GB3 meeting of the year on 1st/2nd June, beginning a run of three events on the continent, with the championship’s landmark first visit to Hungary over the weekend 22nd/23rd June, ahead of the visit to Zandvoort on 13th/14th July.

The second of the Silverstone GP events will take place on 27th/28th July, a run of five straight race meetings at F1 venues, with the final two dates on the calendar being Donington Park GP in the East Midlands on 7th/8th September and Brands Hatch GP Circuit in Kent on 28th/29th September.

Notably, during the championship period covering Spa, Hungaroring and Zandvoort, GB3 teams will be able to make use of championship organiser MotorSport Vision’s Laon Autodrome facility in France as a prep base. There will also be a comprehensive set of official testing days during the year.

Hillspeed, of course, is midway through its busy winter testing programme and heads to 2024 off the back of a strong campaign in GB3 this year with a total of five race victories – four for series rookie Daniel Mavlyutov and one for fellow first-year GB3 racer Gerrard Xie.

Richard Ollerenshaw – Hillspeed Team Principal:
“GB3 is in a great position after an excellent 2023, where we visited Zandvoort for the first time of course, and now we’re going to have three race meetings in Europe for the 2024 campaign with the addition of the Hungaroring. This outstanding calendar really does elevate GB3 once more, Hillspeed is very proud indeed to be part of such a competitive, well organised and popular series.

“Being able to provide career-minded young drivers the opportunity to race these fantastic cars at the best tracks in the UK, including two visits to Silverstone GP, and also visits to Spa, Zandvoort and the Hungaroring is an exceptional offering. We’re very much looking forward to an exciting 2024.”
