Exceptional Performance From Slater And Guinchard In Donington Testing
Hillspeed drivers Freddie Slater and Daniel Guinchard absolutely starred during this week’s two-day test outing for the GB3 and GB4 Championships at Donington Park Grand Prix Circuit, as the team continued its magnificent start to 2025.
Day two on Thursday, 20th March, was the highlight for Markham Vale’s Hillspeed with Slater setting his best time of the official GB3 tests in the second session, a lap of 1m22.412 seconds (108.65mph) placing him at the top of the times for the day and second overall.
In GB4, Guinchard – making his first appearance in a single-seater in over a year – dialled himself in to his car on Wednesday, 19th March, before then lapping quickest in three of Thursday’s four sessions and going on to conclude the outing second overall with a lap of 1m28.370 seconds (101.32mph).
Slater was, unsurprisingly, at the sharp end throughout both days – Wednesday also doubling as the official Media Day for GB3 and GB4 – finishing third in sessions one and two on day one, then second in the two remaining sessions. After lapping third fastest in Thursday’s opening run, he topped session two and was third again in session three.
Across the garage in his GB4 car, former Mercedes Junior Guinchard concluded day one ninth fastest with a best time of 1m29.111 seconds (100.48mph). Well and truly back in the groove for day two, Guinchard was third in session one and then aced the three remaining outings to be quickest in each and end the two-day run only 0.1 seconds away from the fastest GB4 time of all.
Should any proof have been required for drivers seeking a competitive seat for 2025 in either GB3 or GB4, this week’s visit to Donington Park has underlined Hillspeed’s outstanding level of performance and preparation.
